Going Strong in 2025

We're Grateful & Going Strong in 2025

And It's All Thanks To You! As we leap into 2025, we have so much to celebrate—and at the very top of our celebration list is you!

If you’ve been following our updates (and if you’re reading this, we’re betting you do!), you know that just before Thanksgiving our year-end appeal letter officially kicked off our largest fundraising effort of the year. And on Giving Tuesday we once again launched an exciting Challenge Match Campaign to raise crucial funds for both our daily life-saving work and the ongoing campaign to build our new facility.

In the ensuing seven weeks you, our wonderful community of dedicated supporters, responded with gifts totaling almost HALF A MILLION DOLLARS!

From all of us at The Bird Rescue Center, thank you for your unwavering dedication to wild birds and the work we do throughout the year. We wish you a bright and fulfilling new year, filled with happiness and the knowledge that you've helped give countless birds a second chance at life!

2024 Year In Review

We admitted 2,182 birds to our hospital in 2024 with an 81% survival rate—that's a lot of happy endings and second chances! In addition, our dedicated phone team resolved another 276 cases in the field, coaching concerned bird lovers and keeping healthy birds out of the hospital.

2024 saw the installation of our new HPAI Quarantine Hospital! This new complex includes a separate intake and exam building plus eight quarantine wards, each with their own ventilation system and climate control—a necessary improvement for handling potentially infected birds while safeguarding the other birds in our care!

  • 134 different species were treated.

  • Most common songbird species: House Finches, American Crows, California Towhees, Anna's Hummingbirds and California Quail.

  • Raptor species with the highest number of admits: Barn Owls, Red-shouldered Hawks and Great Horned Owls.

  • Waterbird species included over 350 birds with Black-crowned Night Herons leading the list.

  • Rarest species: a Black-footed Albatross - another species first for BRC!

  • Highest number of patients in the hospital at any one time: 231- that's a lot of birds to care for!

  • We answered over 5,000 calls from the North Bay Area and as far away as Florida, Ohio, Michigan, South Carolina, Louisiana and Texas.

2024 was another busy year marked by incredible support. And it all happened because of you!

What to expect in 2025
